I don’t know [poem]

I don’t know
those are the three most powerful words
the keys to freedom
in a life so full of expectations
I don’t know what I want to do next year
or the year after
I don’t know where I want to go
what roads I want to explore
I don’t know who I am each morning
I look into the mirror
oddly thrilled by the stranger looking back
I don’t know when I’ll stop hovering in between
when the weight of reality will catch up to me
gravity returning me to solid ground
I don’t know why being so hollow feels so good
but I’m free
that’s all that really matters
isn’t it?
